On December 10, 2016, the XXI Gala of the Rotary Warsaw City Charity Christmas Tree was held in the Ballroom of the Marriott Warszawa Hotel. For the twenty-first time, in a festive atmosphere, we were able to host wonderful guests, friends of the Rotary Warszawa City Club, famous artists, an exclusive group of philanthropists, business people, science, art, media, who share the idea and motto of Rotary “Service to others, beyond own needs” , thus supporting the Club’s initiatives.
During the gala dinner served by the Marriott Hotel, our guests could spend a fantastic evening with performances by exceptional artists. This year’s Gala guaranteed an unforgettable experience. The exclusive program featured the leading stars of Polish music, including the internationally renowned pianist Paweł Kowalski in a piano recital and Kayah and her band in the concert “The Best of Kayah”.
This year, the main goal for which the funds raised during the Gala will be allocated is the treatment of acute leukemias and lymphoblastic lymphomas in children treated in oncologic centers and hospitals.
Dr. Wael Suleiman, the current President of the Rotary Club Warszawa City in the 2016-2017 term, a doctor and well-known businessman, has repeatedly spoken about what being a Rotarian means for him. Among other things, in an interview with the international magazine Manhattan Business, Dr Suleiman, the Chairman of Fidelity Group said:
“I have been a Rotarian since 1999, in 2005/2006mI was the President of the Rotary Club Warszawa City. Being a Rotarian in my opinion is a mission, way of life. This activity is associated with the selfless helping others, but also the important part of it is a team work that allows you to be more effective.
We have completed many projects both in Poland, as well as abroad and it is impossible to list them all. There are many actions aimed at the needs of children and young people. We have equipped a total of 24 interactive education centers. This is a project to prevent social exclusion and to compensate for differences. We also buy medical equipment for hospitals, disabled people, we organize first aid learning campaigns for children and young people and many other projects. “
Another exciting attraction of the evening were attractive prizes that the guests could win during the Gala. Thanks to Main Sponsor of the event the Fidelity Group and other sponsors, this year the Rotary Warszawa City Club could boast prizes worth nearly PLN 100.000,00
The undoubted highlight of the 21st Rotarian Christmas Tree Gala was the auction of sports collectibles sponsored by the Fidelity Group. The auctioned original items were personally signed by sports stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Luiz Suarez, Pele, Mike Tyson, Mariusz Czerkawski or the players of the Polish national football team.
The auction and the entire Gala was hosted by an excellent actor of the Rampa theater and a Rotarian, Robert Tondera.
